NASA is developing High Performance Spaceflight Computing (HPSC) Chiplet that will improve space computing capabilities by two orders of magnitude. A joint NASA-USAF project will develop radiation hardened, high capacity, high-speed memory components that will enable novel space missions and applications. While these efforts will provide an underlying platform, they do not provide the full range of advanced computing capabilities that will be required to support missions currently in the planning stage for the mid-2020s and beyond. The proposed NPC will enable general purpose neural networks and other machine learning accelerators for applications such as system health management, robotic vision, and similar applications which are needed to meet the combination of performance and power requirements in future autonomous robotic systems. Some of the advantages of NPC are: High Data Rates, High Fan-In, Low Power Consumption, Low Latency [us-ns], Radiation Robustness, and EMI Robustness. The benefits of NPCs enable advancements in NASA applications and HPSC use cases which require hard real time decisions of high bandwidth signals from many analog instruments. We specifically aim to develop a HPSC-compatible NPC capable of support landers, small sat, and generally high bandwidth instruments. The novelty of this proposal is to develop an NPC capable of system health management, specifically Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTM) with predictive analysis algorithms. An NPC would be able to process 100s of high bandwidth (>20 GHz) input signals encoded on unique wavelengths of light to determine safety levels of critical systems and compute hard real time decisions. The need for this functionality has increased as the complexity of instruments and signals responsible for maintaining a NASA vehicle continues to scale, the combination of artificial intelligence and photonic hardware offers a cutting-edge solution for maintaining critical systems.

MORAL M1000 represents the definitive solution for 1m class telescopes and professional observatories. The system is targeted to high demanding applications in astronomical and defense scenarios with the possibility thanks to the capability to operate at 60°/s slew rates with 1'' of mechanical pointing accuracy. The system can operate up to 1000 Kg payload with a maximum aperture of 1.3 meter. M1000 represents the native project from which derived the minor versions of MORAL.

Industry Project Z3VR is proposing the development of a virtual reality (VR) game that is capable of enhancing pre-existing physical maintenance routines, managing stress, and serving as a behavioral health countermeasure. We hypothesize that we can enhance the benefits of meditative respiration and exercise through visual biofeedback loops in integrated VR environments. We plan to design an adaptive application with two complementary modules (exercise and meditation) built to enhance conscious control of the autonomic nervous system. The game will use real time biometric data (heart rate and respiration rate) to influence key game play properties (interactable objects, "non-playable character" (NPC) behavior, difficulty, intensity, lighting). In the exercise module, users will perform physically challenging tasks in order to increase their heart rate into a desired range. A user's ability to modulate their own heart rate will influence their performance in this module. Exercise is an effective tool for managing stress, anxiety, and depression (Paolucci et al., 2018, Gujral et al., 2017, and Craft and Perna, 2004). VR enables exercise variety, which has been shown to be an important factor in the adherence of physical maintenance routines. VR has also been shown to enhance the overall performance and impact of physical exercise (Gujral et al., 2017), and amplifies it s mood-boosting benefits. In the meditation module the game will use respiration rate data gathered from a microphone built into a VR head-mounted-display (HMD) in order to facilitate the optimal meditation session. In this module the properties of the user's environment (color palette, saturation, etc.). Specifically, the game will provide visual and auditory feedback toward successfully lowering heart rate. The game will also track the sessions of each individual player over time. The player's history and personalization preferences (e.g., target heart rate, session length) will be used to determine the difficulty and scoring of each session.
